Scale I Build

Found 5 results

  1. Background: I'd always planned to build one of Tamiya's early kits, a boxy JDM car with actual wing-mounted mirrors. The 1970's looking Leopard TR-X Turbo was long my preference from the 8 or so I could have tried to find from the Tamiya catalogue. Pros: Very easy to assemble and very well moulded. Some conveniences right in the box as the front and rear lights are seperate and chromed, not moulded-in body colour buckets. Proportions look good and even a kit as old as this shows Tamiya's dedication to quality. "TURBO" decals are supplied both in white and in black, giving you body colour choices later on. There's a bonus Honda Tact scooter in the kit also, and a Driver figure. Cons: No engine. No brakes (not that you could see them anyway). No Japanese number plate decals, just dress plates. Wheels are unrealistically bright chrome. Interior floor is the reverse of the underbody floor pan and looks like it too. Some of the underbody parts like the exhaust are all moulded in. Some sink-marks to deal with. Verdict: With a low part-count It's not as detailed as a modern kit but it does build into a very good replica of a Nissan Leopard. Build notes: Built over 3 weeks in February 2022. The only extra details added are rear seatbelts, all-round seatbelt retainers and JDM number plates. Painted in Tamiya Titanium Gold (upper) and Ford Ginger Ale Metallic (lower), with an AS-22 Dark Earth interior. Cleared with Mr Hobby Gloss Premium. I didn't build the Honda Tact that comes with it yet. Looks like a lot of fiddly maskng with the way it's assembled.
  2. Here is my new finished build.. Its Tamiya Nissan Skyline, with Hobby design Nismo LMGT2 wheels, some decals from differend manifactures. color is airbrushed Model master Grape pearl, with Tamiya spray clear coat. First time i used Tamiya polishing compound, and i like results. This JDM tuner is far from perfect, but i like it a lot. For some reason i couldnt upload photos from my photo bank on here, so i upload them directly to forum.. Enjoy
  3. Hi All, I just finished my Aoshima Toyota Chaser. I Started this build on New years eve, and wanted to finish it before i go back to work from my summer break. Anyway, here is a link to my on the workbench thread. Final picks are below Thanks Nathan
  4. I built this replica of my dad's '85 CRX Si 28 years ago for his birthday in '86. It's one of the my oldest surviving builds. I had to do a little repair work on it recently, so I cleaned it up and photographed it for my web site. You can see more pics at the link. http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/85_honda_crx_page.html
  5. Hi all, Recently someone drove it to the back of my van so I've had a month of worth, during that time I seem to have found a rather addictive new hobby of building up cars. Here is my first attempt at building up a Hasegawa 1/24 Honda Civic, this is based on a car I used to own and wish I never sold, Still got some details to finish and been a massive learning curve. Made a few mistakes and would do things a different way next time in places but the next one has arrived today so will know for next time. The wheels arrived in chrome which mine never were so these were going to need to be changed I used Halfords plastic primer as I was going to be using automotive paint to get the best colour match Lot of bits for me to start on, everything got a first coat before removing it from the sprue Ended up buying about 3 paints originally but went back for a rather few more! Final Prime on the wheels Floorpan all primed for paint. first coat down Mirrors have been primed as using automotive paint on these.
