72 Charger Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Ive always left off the hood hinges on my cars simply because I like to have the hoods closed but I also like to show the engines off sometimes . So I always have to use a tooth pick to hold up the hood which looks like a log holding up the hood. Does anyone make working PE scissor hood hinges like in most American cars in 1/25 th ?
blunc Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Trumpeter included PE hood hinges in their 1960 Pontiac Bonneville kits but I haven't gotten around to working on them yet. From what I have seen, most builders give up on them.
my80malibu Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 A thin piece of stainless wire, would be a better choice to hold those hoods up.
randx0 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) Aber makes a nice hood hinge pe set ,not really American style but a good option. And there is this Edited March 26, 2015 by randx0

randx0 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I usually find the Aber stuff on ebay I haven't been able to find a U.S. supplier. The M.A.S. (machined aluminium specialties) I got off Ebay as well.

Chrischu33 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 One thing I sometimes do is I got some metal/copper wire from hardware stores and kind of shape it using pliers, works pretty well for me!
southpier Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 not sure if these are still available (2009 post) http://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/fixed-open-hood-hinges
