BubbaJoe Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) I was inspired by the great work i saw over at the car toon site and by the work here , so i took a leap into wonderful world of cartoon models with my first build of freddy flameout this is my 3rd build of the year and i have to say it was the most enjoyable to date. its not a very complicated model i think were are 17 pieces i used of this model. i have a few leftover parts for the box. i made my own base and did not use the balloons. i only have a few work in regress photos to share. i wanted his arm to face the other direction so i cut off the glove and turned it 180. i did not like the teeth that came with the kit so i made my own..i wanted a kinder gentiler looking freddy as to not scare my great niece who loves to visit my toy room. i think i made 8 pairs before deciding on one i liked. notice the gold tooth... i happen to see some muppet show my great niece was watching and it had this muppet with a gold tooth..no idea whats its name is but decided freddy needed one too. i used beacon metal leaf adhesive and gold foil from a candy bar..i sliced the foam around the tooth and pushed the foil down around the foam to give it a rounded look. the eyes gave me fits .can't tell you hoe many times i paint them ,but i finally gave up and purchased cat eyes from the doll section at hobby lobby the visor is made from a propel water bottle.. 2 silver push pins for the side. dashboard is a black plastic collar stay from a dress shirt. the gauges are an assortment of left overs from other builds. windshield another piece of propel bottle balloons are sanded foam balls with wire strings,, the base is stacked foam board ,glued and shaped.. surface is a mix of sifted dirt and sawdust.. the tree came from the dollar store.. i drilled out a piece of stick and added a piece of plastic brush handle for the plane toast on.. the plane was painted with model master metalizer then buffed.. i filed the plane to give it a scratched and beat up appearance. then used a dark brown wash over the entire plane. you see freddy crashed into a mountain and is using the balloons to get back into the air... he sheared off a tree while going over the top. he needed more helium so i added a few tanks form in to use. and a few flame decals on his helmet... well thanks for taking a look.. comments more than welcomed Edited April 6, 2015 by BubbaJoe
TooOld Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Very cool Joe ! It's easy to tell that you had fun building this by all of the custom touches you added to it . They all look great ! ( I think the Muppets character was Dr. Teeth )
