Hubert Rollins Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Hi. My name is Derick. I've dabbled in model building off and on most of my life. I just finished my first build in probably 15 years. I did a '65 chevy stepside weathered to the hilt. It was my first attempt at weathering anything. Prior to that I built a Davey Allison T-Bird stock car. I will post pics of both if I can figure out how. I'm working from an iphone so any helps or hints would be greatly appreciated. Just to let you know how long I've been out of modeling: the revell '65 I just completed cost me about $25 for the kit and I ordered it online. The last kit I bought cost me $9.95 at Wal-Mart. None of my local stores even carry a kit anymore unless I want to drive a couple cities over to a Hobby Lobby. And I don't think anyone will ever pay $10 for one again! ???? Anywho, I'm excited about this opportunity to share info with like- minded folks.
mod3l Lover Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Hello Derick, Welcome to the mashing of brains we call a forum! I think you should have fun here. I still have kits with price tags on them that read a mere $6.99. So I understand where your coming from on that one! There is on-line sites that are less expensive than the one you found. So keep searching for the deals. If you ever just need some parts, wheels, tires, etc. don't hesitate to ask me. I mean it, I give away stuff all the time to fellow modelers. You just gotta ask! Best regards, David S.
MGL Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Welcome to the forum Derick, if your anywhere near Mobile the Hobby Town USA at Airport and Shillinger has a decent selection and one of the employees is a retired Coastee that builds some of the most realistic armor I've ever seen.
DumpyDan Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Welcome Derick, glad you signed up. To bad you have to drive so far just to get a kit.
