Tony T Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 A friend has this picture taken by another pilot of his brother flying a Harvard... So, I decided to build a 1/48 scale replica as best as I could manage using only this picture as a basis...and online research...I gave it to him today in a display case with some info I found online related to this aircraft, #3839, RCAF, Royal Canadian Air Force. His brother was a flight instructor at the time. Anyhow, here is the model. I used the 1/48 scale Occidental kit and scratch built the exhaust extention (there was a tube that ran through the exhaust to help provide heat to the pilots) And in the case: Enjoy! Comments and feedback accepted! More photos here
Roadrunner Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Looks great ! Agreed. I've never been a real fan of trainers, but this one looks excellent.
Snake45 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Very nice, except for no dihedral in the outer wing panels. The Monogram kit wants to build the same way, if you're not careful. First one I built, I didn't get quite enough dihedral in it. The second one, I overcompensated and got a bit too much. Next one I do, I'll get right.
Tony T Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Not sure what you mean by dihedral, Snake. Can you elaborate? I have another Harvard on the bench right now...
Snake45 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Dihedral is the up-angle of the wings (down-angle is called anhedral). The wing centersection of the T-6/Harvard is flat, but the outer panels angle up.
