Xploited Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I have to say this would have to be proably one of my favorite builds. The build the entire time never seemed to give me to many issues. the kit went together fairly nice other then a few problems with Lineing up the front hood. I sprayed it with testors one coat lacquer (mystic emerald) I can't count the amount of coats of paint I put on this sucker 2 100ml cans of spray later and everything was painted and ready for assembly , the bed was finished with testors natural wood ( the bottle I have is from Id say 20 years ago) but still works great after 30 mins of shakeing it furiously, I made my own disturbotor and added a few fuel lines to the bay , I'm still learning the ins and outs on engine detailing. this was my first adventure using bMF and the stuff seems pretty easy to use just takes a bit of patients hope everyone enjoys , questions and positive critism are very welcome
wayne swayze Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Very nice! The green is great! Nice looking truck. My only suggestion would be a black wash in the grille. Otherwise, well done.
Xploited Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 I've yet to do any black washing I'll have to do some research on it and give it a try thanks a lot I love to hear other people's opionons helps widen my knowledge, I did it for a local meet so I did put alittle more thought and care into it
Xploited Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 I was trying something new , somewheres online I read that the inside of Ethernet cable or phone line was a good source for plug wire.but I guess not xD thanks for the tip Im still working on my understanding of scale and what looks right, I usually use very thin solder. until I find something better I guess I'll just stick with that lol , thank you for the advice and kind words
Roadrunner Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I do like that color. I'll be using the same on a '32 Vicky I have coming up.
Xploited Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 When I was at micheals picking the model up my girlfriend came with me and I was tossed between a few greens and she insisted this was the best looking one , I would have to agree with her. That will look sweet on a classic rod like that ! Can't wait for the wip or when she's all under glass
gatorincebu Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) John, Good looking pick em up. Another thing you might want to try for detaing is fine wire or even nylon fishing line if it is thin enough. back in the day we would use sewing thread with gulf wax on it so it wouldn't be fuzzy!!! Xploited Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks for the advice gator I like the fishing line idea I may have to take a trip to canadian tire and pick some up. I think the mistake I made was I didn't strip the wire I was using I left the rubber insulator on and instead of being 0.2 it was likely .4 or something way to big i may end up makeing a new coil and fixing this, I'm thinking 0.1 or smaller would be better but I'm not sure. What is the "ideal" gauge to use for 1/25th ?

What is the "ideal" gauge to use for 1/25th ? Now that is a question for others! But yes thinner than the bell wire with the insulation on it. I used to use that for the airlines on truck models. I quit doing the plumbing for two reason. One I was notenjoying it. And two back then I was not doing well finding things of a size that looked realistic. So now my trusks are detailed using paints and chalks and the like. I may venture into doing the plumbing on a truck, but who knows. You can also find some really fine wire in Radio Shack or computer stores. I will say this .I admire those that can add that kind of detail and make it look good! be Well Gator
Xploited Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 I agree those that can fully plumb a 1/25 th scale engine/car I as well look up to them. I don't go crazy with the plumbing but I think a few little things here and there can go a long way; but to each is there own and I'm sure your still pumping out amazing quaility work ! Cheers, John
