wayne swayze Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Sure brings back some great memories from back then. My 1st kit was a '59 Ford Galaxy 2 door ht with the thick metal axles and no engine. Like lots of others, I put as many decals and skirts, pipes spotlights etc that was in the box. What did I know? I think my favorite kit was the '39/'40 Ford tudor sedan. I musta built a dozen of 'em! Learned to swap engines, wheels and tires back then (1960 or so ).
Junkman Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I'd have preferred the Galaxie with thick axles and no engine. Saves a lot of hassle when building it.
disabled modeler Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Very cool..! I have tried to get my hands on one of those but never could make it happen. I too like the old metal axle and screw chassis kits...there my favorites.
Motor City Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I went to a lecture sponsored by the Dearborn Historical Museum a number of years ago (ten or so). The guest speaker was the designer of the Levacar. It was interesting, but I would never want the model.
