fseva Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) I know Flintstone sells a chopped body, but no glass... Does anyone sell a chopped body that supplies the new glass needed for the new window sizes? I have the Revell kit, but obviously if I replace the body with a chopped version, the original glass will be of no use to me... And please, don't tell me how easy it'd be to cut new windows out of clear lexan - I know all about that option - just want something better... Edited May 27, 2015 by fseva
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 And please, don't tell me how easy it'd be to cut new windows out of clear lexan - I know all about that option - just want something better... Not Lexan. Clear acetate or styrene. They're FLAT. We cut REAL ones from flat glass. Easy peasy.
High octane Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 The acetate is much thinner and more realistic than the kit glass anyway. I'll be making side windows on my gasser project out of colored acetate like I've seen on gassers at the drag strip and at car shows.

Clear acetate and styrene are so easily damaged... and Lexan can be purchased in flat sheets! The main problem is placing them behind the frames... just don't look real to me...

I can get Lexan in .010 sheets - that's as thin as acetate or styrene. But how do you get around installing it without it looking like it's been attached BEHIND the frame instead of "into" the frame?
om617 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I`m not sure how you handle your models if you say clear acetate is easy to damage. Use them as a baseball?
Brett Barrow Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Scrape a groove into the frame. You can CA glue a chunk of plastic to an Xacto blade to make a stop to set the proper width.

No... the stuff I've received from Evergreen, etc., has always arrived with some scratches on the surface, and that was covered by a baggie!
