moonlite5hadow Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 im not sure if it goes here, but if it needs to be moved im sure a moderator can do it. Im looking for an aftermarket RB26DETT for some projects i have. instead of buying multiple Tamiya GT-R and Calsonic kits just for engines, i'd be perfectly fine paying the same price for just the engine. here's what i found: http://shop.rpphobby.com/product.sc?catego...p;productId=156 is it what im looking for, and if so, is it any good? the link provides no description at all, and i cant find anything online. im hoping someone here has seen, heard of, or used this and can provide some insight. along with that, where can i look to find the same engine if any other brands make aftermarket RB kits (injection, resin or mixed multimedia)? also looking for turbos and intercoolers, and hiroboy.com is all out of stock. PLEASE HELP! and, thanks in advance!
Nick F40 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Yes, you can't go wrong with RPP, he has some of the best stuff and products, especially the RC. As for turbos, you can get some in resin, I forget who, but you can make your own.
george 53 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Moonlite, thanks for posting the web site adress ,Ive just ordered some stuff. Thanks again,George53.
moonlite5hadow Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 well, i just ordered 2 RB26's (would have just ordered one, but i couldn't justiy $9 shipping for only one, so i got two ). we'll see how they turn out. perhaps i'll review/criticize in the appropriate forum.
jbwelda Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 i think but not sure that the motor kit you linked to is the same motor used in the fujimi nissan s13 with full motor detail. by the way you say you would be happy to buy motors for the same price as the tamiya kits they come in (or did i read that wrong) but it occurs to me you might as well buy the kits and then if you dont want anything other than the motors, PM me and i can suggest a good person you can donate the leftovers to!
jbwelda Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 oops i just noticed its an aoshima motor kit not fujimi so that makes it rather not likely its the same as a fujimi kit motor! probably was an aoshima kit i was thinking of but its late and im spaced out god i love that emoticon, it just fits so well in so many situations.

Thanks again,George53. hey you won't be dissappointed, you can't go wrong with RPP, the owner is a really nice guy. oops i just noticed its an aoshima motor kit not fujimi so that makes it rather not likely its the same as a fujimi kit motor! probably was an aoshima kit i was thinking of but its late and im spaced out god i love that emoticon, it just fits so well in so many situations. hahaha
moonlite5hadow Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 well, i got these in today, and needless to say i am terribly disappointed. its not the actual motor as a kit, its more like the bottom half of the engine molded as one piece with a partial engine bay, and various detail pieces for the head, intake, charge piping from the turbo and engine front, but no turbo or exhaust manifold to speak of. hardly worth the price i paid for it. can't be more than 16 pieces total, at roughly $1 per piece. not recommended at all... pay the same price for the GT-R or Calsonic kits from Tamiya and get the whole, much more detailed, motor. not to mention (assuming GT-R parts are exact 1/24 scale) this Aoshima "kit" appears to be more around 1/23 or 1/22 scale.
