samdiego Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Where can I find the reducer for their line of model paints now that Wally's has dumped the line?
RJWood Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hey Sam, I have read that the regular Testors Model master airbrush thinner works fine, and is avalible at most hobby stores. I have 3 bottels of the HOK paint. not used yet, but plan on using the airbrush thinner to reduce it. The info I got was from a reliable sorce. but cannot remember where I recieved the info. I just remember that the airbrush thinner will work. But its a good idea to test on scrap. hope this helps, Ron P.S. My son lives in San Diego, go there to see him and his family often. can you tell me some good Hobby shops in S.D.? Thanks, and keep on building.
kurth Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 It is now available at my favorite place for hobby supplies... Tower Hobbies http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...;M=KUS&P=SM Enjoy -Kurt
chriscoffey Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 i have been told by more then one source that it is reaaly best to try and use HOK thinner. Myself, i have had mixed results. I can use my acrylic laquer thinner for the pearls, but for some reason, it will not work on my candies. I am thinking that the candies might be a different formula (eurothane). When i try to use it on the candies, it seperates like oil & water. Strange...
samdiego Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 I wound up just calling them. Amy told me that they are expanding into the hobby shops and are seeing good sales numbers. She also hooked me up with a shop that I wasn't aware of here in the San Diego area called Hobby Central. I'm waiting for their next shipment to come in for the reducer, but I'm anxious to check them out. I did ask what this stuff was made of and she didn't really answer other than that it wasn't an enamel or a laquer and not really an acrylic either. I'm thinkin' flubber. I wonder what the hobby shop price is going to be.
