I have the AMT Chevy 1972 fleetside and I'd like to make it a stepside.

Would the bed from the Revell Chevy 1965 Stepside be correct or did GM changes the beds by then?

Wrong fenders(at the least) on the 65 bed. AMT made a short bed 72 GMC stepside.

It should be very easy to find...you'll need the frame too.

Way back when, MPC had a long bed stepside kit, it would be a direct replacement for that fleetside bed without having to adjust the wheelbase.

I have a few of both Long & short stepside 67/72 Chevy/GMC kits

Wish they hadn't butchered the shortbox GMC into the

Cheyenne Fleetside longbox back in 95.

Doubt we will see that one back out ever again.

Not sure what happened to all the variants of the Longbox kit!!

Maybe this era Chevy/GMC will be Moebius' next pickup

Try to find an AMT/Ertl reissue of the '72 GMC- it was a short stepside. You'd need to use the Chevy tailgate, but the GMC has the right bed and chassis (assuming you want to to a short bed stepside). It was last issued in the early '90's and was later retooled into the '72 Chevy long bed.

If I could find a '72 GMC stepside, I'd just build that out of the box. I like the grill of the GMCs better than the Chevys.
