truckabilly Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 How much common in the USA is this auto carrier set up? I usually see the tractors having a rack for 3 cars on them and the 5-th wheel repositioned aft and low.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Just yesterday I saw probably 20. Not the same trailer, but the same setup. I was on I40 going east from Ca to Az.
tonye66 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I see both kinds regularly. I commonly see Volvos pulling this type of trailer.
kilrathy10 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 About the only thing with this transporter, is that it uses standard size wheels and tires.....Most modern designs that I see have shorter tires or low profiles.....I'm sure it's to get those few extra inches of clearance and all.....But still a pretty common site around here.....And just about anything can pull it.....That's the beauty of this type of trailer....You don't have to have your rig purpose built to haul it.....
Petetrucker07 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Most of the newer, last 10 years, are designed for 7 cars. The low pro tires are to get the extra height. I talked to a guy once that had a late 70s cabover Freightliner 9 car hauler. He had to upgrade to a lower sittin Pete so he could haul SUVs.
