Ok, I talked to three of you from the site but I didn't think to ask who you guys were. I bought a '50 Ford pickup and a Tamiya Alpine 1600 at your table.

From the Seseme Street T shirt guy.

That was Curt Raitz that you bought the Alpine from and you got the truck from me. Curt's friend Steve was with us at the table most of the day and Jerry Cardinal moved between sitting with us at the table to chatting with folks about the models on display.

Yes, I remember your shirt!

Didn't get to meet anyone. Was hoping to meet some of the guys who have helped me on these forums, especially locals. Didn't feel real comfortable going up to someone and asking who they were. It would have been nice if name tags were used. I know, maybe sounds silly, but I really wanted to thank some folks in person and also pick up some tips that would be too time consuming for a forum topic. :(

The vendors are given blank name tags. Most of us just stuck them to our jackets without bothering to put our names on them...

If you wear a name tag next year I'll come up and introduce myself!

I ushered vendors to their tables early on. After that I took money and stamped hands at the box office till 9:30 or so, then again in the afternoon. I really like helping out with this show.

Aaron and Raul, i wondered about you both as I was admiring your builds.

And I do remember checking out the Tamiya models at your table Raul.

Maybe nametags wouldn't be so bad.

Milt, I felt the same way at the first shows I attended. I do manage to meet a couple more people every show, I got to shake Gregg's hand this year.

I hope to meet up with more people next year...

Hey Raul,

You, along with Steve, (local to my area),and Brenden from up north, along with Gregg, were folks that I wanted to meet and thank for the help. I was also hoping that some of the larger after market folks would be there, I had a pretty big shopping list. But, they weren't. I hate to sound critical, but was really disappointed. Seemed more like a flea market with people trying to unload stuff. Sure, some very nice builds, and a bunch of pretty good ones, (way better than mine), which I enjoyed seeing, but I think that I will pass on next years show. Maybe I'll try one of the big National shows in the future.

I was hoping to see more resin and other aftermarket venders too, but from what I've heard that is a very hit or miss thing. Some years there are many, other years like this one not so much. Still I did pretty well on kits, got a couple I've been chasing at decent prices and several more I only had a mild interest in but got really cheap. I picked up an Opel GT for $4, not a kit I was dying for but it is an odd subject and the price was right.

Raul it was nice to meet you guys, I also met up with Brian (Bsoder) who I have been yacking with online since I joined the SA forums several years ago, it was nice to finally meet him without typing. Met up with someone from another site as well of course its always nice to be able to talk to Gregg in person even if he is going in 20 directions at once. I saw some great builds too. Never saw a built Futura before, I thought someone was getting a little creative with a Batmobile kit until I asked about it.

My only complaint, you people need to build more police cars, fire engines and ambulances. By my count there were 8 total and I brought 4 of them! :o:D

Oh, and I never did find any food. On the drive home I thought I was getting sick and then it hit me I hadn't eaten since dinner the night before. :o

There was food to the left of the front door. The sandwiches were pretty good and the prices weren't too bad, considering they had a captive audience.

I didn't see Arron, Milt or Ron. I did see Ron's A-100.

I was the guy in the red jacket riding the electric scooter. Spotted several tables with groups of models built by the same person, but couldn't find anyone hanging around "guarding" them. That might have been a hint. :P

I should've guessed, by the handicapped access post you made. My kids and I got in your way a couple of times, if that refreshes your memory any bit. :P

Do you think it would be better if the tables were set up in a way that the builders have a place to sit behind them? Sort of the way the vendor tables were arranged, I guess. I'd also feel safer stashing my "loot" that way, plus it would be easy to ask the builders something about their models. As it is, the only way I got to chat with builders was when we were in line to take pictures with one of the magazines.

That's not a bad idea. Not that I really felt unsafe leaving my builds on the table, but there wasn't really any way to hang out nearby without blocking the aisles, and no way to know who built what if you were curious about a specific build.

I wasn't too worried about the builds, but rather the pile of kits I had purchased throughout the day. Never had a problem with stuff disappearing before but it's easy for your stuff to spill over to the next guy's stash. All the free D&J bags looked the same so you might end walking away with an extra bag, or missing one!

Yup, Milt. I remember seeing you. Hope we do cross paths again.

On the plus side, the A100 is a much better photo model than me! nice pic, Mr. Roadkill...

:D Don't remember anyone getting in my way at all, especially kids. (loved to see them getting excited about some of the cars). I'm not really handicaped in the way that I need a full time chair, but I do have a spinal and hip condition that doesn't allow me to stand for more than a few minutes at a time and can't walk further than about 30 yards without a break, so thanks to the convention center staff, I was able to attend and get around. Anyhow, it was great to see so many kids there having a good time.

I think that it would be great to have a set up where builders could sit behind tables displaying their builds. There were so many fantastic builders, whose work I have seen here, that I wanted to meet, complement them on their work, and of course, "brain pic" a little.

Well, maybe next time. Who knows, maybe by then I will have something worth bringing. :D
