Len Woodruff
I never thought they put the 255 DOHC engine in a GT40. But obviously the did at least 1. LOL!Also did you notice the individual coils mounted to the bulkhead? Edited August 30, 2015 by Len Woodruff

Art Anderson
I never thought they put the 255 DOHC engine in a GT40. But obviously the did at least 1. LOL!Also did you notice the individual coils mounted to the bulkhead? The original intent was to use the 255cid 4-Cam Ford Indy Engine for LeMans etc., but it lacked the power to do the job needed.Art

Art Anderson
IIRC, from Leo Beebe's excellent book "Ford, The Dust and the Glory", the issues with the 4-cam Indianapolis engine had to do with a rather narrow torque and horspower curve--that engine could pump out about 700hp, but at a constant high rpm range.Art
