Heres another of my kitbashed specials,It started life as the AMT '62 Electra 225.

The Nailhead is from the '66 Riv lowrider kit and the rest of the mods are from the parts bin.

This was also my first and so far only attempt at BMF, I have to say I don't really have the patience for it. Some of the trim is BMF and some is hand painted (which I don't have much patience for either)

That looks awesome!

I'm not such a big fan of BMF either. Its not that I think its an inferior product, I just don't enjoy using it. If you don't mind masking, it is possible to use Alclad Chrome and airbrush the trim...I've done that on quite a few of my models, and I like the results. Its tedious (to say the least), but the results are reliable and look good. You'll have to be careful and not use a hot clear over it (or the gloss black base), but if you use it after putting on the clear it should be okay. Folks'll say its crazy to go through the trouble, but if you're like me, and just don't like foiling, its a good alternative.

Thank You, These cars are relatively rare in 1:1 nowadays but I've seen a few and they really are cool looking cars.

Long and lean and most were powered by 401 inch Nailheads.

I missed out on one when I was much younger,it was the Wildcat version with a 401 4-speed. Talk about rare. Unforutunately I didn't have the $500.00 asking price at the time. B)

Another one thats beautiful. This is what a real one would look like if I'd own one, and I can't beileve you didn't have the money, I know I would have bought that in less than a heartbeat. :)

I ran across that car when I was about 17 and carless myself, I was actually driving a '76 Mustang Ghia borrowed from my sister when I ran across the Wildcat at a gas station one night.

Never saw it again.

You want a real sad story?

I also had the chance to buy a '57 Chevy 210 two door, someone had started rodding it and never finished, It had black tuck and roll interior, Ford 9" rear and a fiberglass flip front end with a blown up small block Chevy in it.

The price I couldn't afford on that one? $700.00.

Looks very cool man, but try learning using the BMF, it really sets off a model, I know that it is not for everyone but personally I think it was the best thing invented for model cars!!!!! :)

Whatever you did on the trim, and/or how you did it, don't stop. Looks great. Talk about missing deals of a lifetime...in 1958 I was offered a 1953 Corvette, one of only 300 built, for $1000.00. Had to pass. Two kids and making $2.35 an hour. :)

Interesting take on a 1962 Buick. Back in the day, the Electra 225 was known as "a deuce and a quarter" and it was a luxury car, a real boulevard cruiser, not much of a hot rod, but that is not to say you can't put a blower on it. I think you need to learn to love BMF. It makes all the difference in the world. From the pictures I see here, it looks like you got a great result for your first go around....stick with it, it will get easier. Think about it....without BMF, you limit yourself to rat rods and drag machines....thats like saying you can only eat vanilla ice cream when there are 40 other flavors to chose from. Like I said, you should learn to love it.

Sweet looking Buick. I like the color.

I hear ya all on the miss-outs

I passed on a 260 Sunbeam Tiger, but the one I really missed out on was a rust-free all original 70 Cowl Induction 396 Chevelle for $1800.00 - wonder how much that might be worth now. The one that made me really mad was a last year I tried to by a Porsche 944 Turbo that needed some work - actually a lot of work. It was traded in for $1300.00 and the dealer didn't do anything to it but wouldn't part with it for less than $5500.00. They were asking Premium book on it of $6500.00 and it was a tow-away to boot - no power steering. And they wonder why they get a bad name.
