Petetrucker07 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Oh boy, I guess I better buy the wife something REALLY nice. I'm gonna end ordering a case of the race truck and the ramp truck. This is some really good news for those of us who couldn't pay the collector prices on the bay. Kinda ruins it for the guys who have had the originals with hopes of selling them for big bucks.
Force Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) I have two of each from the original releases but I'm happy anyway and I will probably get at least one more each...maybe two. Edited January 8, 2016 by Force
Old Buckaroo Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Kinda ruins it for the guys who have had the originals with hopes of selling them for big bucks. I dont mind paying a little more for older kits as the quality of plastic is better. But who can justify Highway robbery prices on kits that are so high no one will touch them . Like $425.00 for a BJ McKay truck
Petetrucker07 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Exactly. I'm really surprised I paid what I did for the Bill Signs truck. I hope that comes in 2017. It won't hurt as bad it getting released 2 years after I paid a pretty penny.
Force Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) That's steep, I don't know what can motivate that price, it's just a regular AMT KW K100 Aerodyne as all others...with BJ McKay decals...nothing special at all...and I don't love the boxart so much that I need it, it's better to buy a cheaper regular one and get decals from Modeltruckin' and you will be there for a fraction of that price. Petetrucker07 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 It would be great to see Round 2 release all of the special mold trucks that AMT did. The Tyrone Malone trucks, Bill Signs and I'm sure there were others.
Force Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Clayton, The Bill Signs truck was issued by Revell AG. But I'm with you, there are many trucks still from the old AMT tooling that can be reissued maybe with some retooling. Edited January 8, 2016 by Force
Petetrucker07 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Yep, your right. I got too excited. Maybe Round 2 could buy those molds. At least we're getting 2 old classic kits and potentially 2 more, which are basically decals on the ramp truck and a couple extra parts and decals for the other race truck. I saw where they may include both decal sheets in the ramp truck, maybe it would just be reboxing.
highway Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I don't think that one was in the fire. I know that it is in mint condition right now in the hands of a collector. The Boss Truck of America was in the fire and is in really bad shape right now! I save every single picture I can get my hands on dealing with Tyrone Malones trucks. http://public.fotki.com/lotso/tyrone-malone-truck-pics/ ...but he does not own the Bandag Bandit, that truck is owned by Bridgestone who owns Bandag Retreading and it's on display at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop Museum. All this according to what I have found out on Ken Harris Tyrone Malone Bandag Diesel Racing Team facebook site https://www.facebook.com/Tyrone-Malone-and-the-Bandag-diesel-racing-team-189062841121878/timeline/ You are quite right Force, it is in the Iowa 80 Museum. I had the pleasure of seeing it when I attended the 2012 Walcott Truckers Jamboree.

Yes that would be something...and reissue all of the truck and trailer kits they have in their inventory...NOW!!!.The the Hideout Truck and Papa Truck is exactly the same except for the decals, there are differences in the race trucks tho', the hood is different, the wing configiration is different and the turbo configuration on the engine is different between the two...and the decals of course.By the way...I'm coming over to California in a couple of months, this time my friends and I will start our trip in Portland Oregon for one weekend April 1:st and 2:nd and we will be driving down to the L.A. area after that and stay there for the remainder of our vacation, and I belive we will be visiting our friend in Hesperia at least one time or maybe two. Mathew: I'm in envy of you, I haven't seen the Malone trucks live but I sure wish I had when they were here in Sweden on the first European Tour back in 1981, I thought they were cool when I first saw pictures of them back then, and I bought the first AMT Super Boss and Papa Truck kits maybe in 1983-84 or so...I have since completed the collection with one more of the Papa Truck and Super Boss and two each of the Hideout Truck and Badag Bandit.. I do have to say my jaw dropped when I was walking around the truck show and seen it, I made an immediate turn in it's direction so fast that my girlfriend at the time didn't even realize I left her side! I've had a few poorly done rebuilders of the race trucks throughout the years I never did do anything with and got lost in a divorce move, but I do have the original issue of the Papa Truck. It was almost as big of a jaw dropping experience getting that as it was seeing the real Bandag Bandit, because a close friend said he had a "surprise" for me one time a few years ago when he stopped by my house. He was coming over for us to work on a few models together, and he came in carrying the Papa Truck. I asked him "Oh, finally going to start working on that thing, huh?" and his reply was "No, this is your surprise, it's yours now"!
tbill Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 as if i need more kits...............um,ya........will be getting these when they come out.........so much cool stuff coming back out!
RAT-T Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 SAW ONE OF THESE TRUCKS RUN AT ORANGE AIRPORT BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S
scummy Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 They came out here and toured australia in mid 70's . Went to the drag strips around the country and raced the louie rocket truck , everybody laughed at the boss truck that lost race after race against a ROCKET powered flord louie . To me the boss was the fastest mechanical race truck and the louie was the fastest ROCKET powered truck . Simple .
Force Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 The Ford truck was called "Waltzing Matilda" if I rememer correctly, I saw a video from that way back in the beginning of the 80's...but I think it was JET powered, not rocket.

Force Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Yep that was it mate , rocket , jet same thing .No not really, you have the same type of propusion but it's two types of engines that operates very different.Jet engine: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4c/Jet_engine.svgRocket engine liquid fuel: https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/K-12/airplane/Images/lrockth.gifRocket engine solid fuel: http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/propulsion/rocket/solid-rocket.gif Edited January 12, 2016 by Force
kilrathy10 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I can't wait to grab any one of those potential reissues.....I'm with Clayton.....But more so for the KW ramp truck than anything......If they reissue that this year, count on me acquiring a case of them, as well.....
lee cole Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 how hard would it be to make the hood and cab a stock w900..
Force Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) It can most likely be done, as the side skirts are molded on to the cab you have to cut them off, cut off the front spoiler from the hood, fix the hole for the hood scoop and fix the mounting holes for the wings on the hood and you will get a long hood 1972-82 W900...the old AMT W925 was a short hood 1968-71.It's a bit harder to do a stock W900 from the Bandag Bandit as the hood on it is more customized, it has the same front spoiler as the Super Boss but it has a molded on hood scoop on top and 1977 Buick Regal headlights.
