wayne swayze Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I don't use decals too often, and I was wondering if I should place the decal in place before my finishing polish...or polish first, then apply decal?
Ramfins59 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Are you putting a finish clearcoat over the decals? If so, that would help to protect the decals when polishing. If not, then I would polish first and then apply the decals.
High octane Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I always polish first, and then apply decals.
wayne swayze Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thanks guys. Rich, I've messed up too many paont jobs with clear, which has always been an orange peel nightmare! The paint I have on my project seems O.K. to my eye, but I wanted it to be a bit more shiny, and I have a decal for the tailgate. Guess I'll try polishing first, then the decal as per your advice. Thanks again!
peteski Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 You can polish the paint but don't wax it. Decals won't adhere very well to a waxed paint.
