junior73, challengers (and also cudas) NEVER had window frames. that was a custom thing for the movie so the chick could wrap the belts around em,,,and they f***ed it up doin that

george 53, they did make drop top E bodies, but still didnt have window frames,,,glad they didnt make those in the original plans of the challenger lol

Speaking of Death Proof, What year was that Nova? That could be a nice use for that up-coming Revell kit.

Effing it up with the window frames was nothing compared to the on-road destruction that took place against Kurt Russell's Charger.

it would be '68 to '72, '73-'74 was a different body style, similar, but different...

 I know,Cali must be the grave yard for 69 Chargers, Why they gotta smash em allup like that? why cant they crunch up ford mustangs or some other car? 2 rare Mopars gone, for wat?

They need to start producing more the all steel reproductions of all these muscle cars so they can be used for these films instead of using the real thing.

I think its disrespectful to destroy a real vintage classic for the little fun of a film, i mean they dont make theese anymore, and there are people who wants theese cars.

You dont own a vintage classic, you just pay to keep it. just like a painting.

Ya dont see them smashing up the MonaLisa in movies, right?

Hey hey hey!!! No reason to bring a poor old Mustang into this! They would have been better off crunching a Camaro :D

But ya'll are right. I'm only hoping that they were originally bought by the movie companies years ago with some kind os stipulatoin that they could never be sold to the public. Then, maybe, and only maybe, can I see crunching one up. Or, even better, they were a couple of bondo babies from teh scrap yard.

Aw hell, there ain't no way to justify it......

The only movie car that I dont mind they smashed up is the 71 mustang in the original Gone in Sixty Seconds, just for the fact that it was fairly new at the time so its not like it was a hard find and it went through hell and is still around and drivable today.. now thats cool. Plus its 10 times the car the 67 stang in the remake could ever even wish to be!

IIRC the "Death Proof" Chargers were supposed to be left over stunt cars from the Dukes of Hazzard movie. shortly after filming one of the Chargers from Death Proof was for sale on Ebay, don't know if it sold or not.

the Challengers may have been left overs from the remake of Vanishing Point and the Nova too probably used in some other movie or movies. there was a Nova in the movie Final Destination.

there was a yellow '69 Chevelle that made appearances in several movies, such as Point Break, White Men Can't Jump, King of the Road and in primered form, Beverly Hills 90210. many, many of these cars are kept for re-use later in other roles.

Dave

the wrecked charger was one of the dukes of hazard stunt cars, it also wasnt in that condition it was extensively repaired for the movie according to my source.
