I have been out for a while but glad I can come back here. I am working on the gtp mustang monogram kit.

I wanted to do something different, so looking at the reference photos I got, I felt that there where lots of details missing

so I started to cut out panels and adding pieces to resembled the real race car. one of the big improvements I will try to do are installing a turbo to repalce the mickey mouse exaust tips that the kit brings. this will require hand made headers. hope you like and coments and advice always welcome.

I know it's a mustang, according to the kit, but it sure looks like a GTP Capri or maybe a 78 Mustang.  The one in the background of the second and fourth pics, now THATS a mustang!

Your build looks like it's going well.  I'd love to see more progress.

Nice to see one of these getting built! It's a great kit - I've got a couple in the stash. Motor Racing Replica News did an article years ago about building a more "correct" version than what's in the box - if you're interested I can scan it for you.

Thanks Steve, about the article, man anything helps, This car is the second version, the first one was right side driver and the engine configuration had the exhaust coming out on the left side. If the article is about how to do the first one, please I will like to have it since I plan to build that one also

I did one of these way back in the day. One of the flaws is that the lower rear body is moulded with the floor pan. I cut it off at the seam underneath and behind the rear wheels and bonded/moulded it to the rear clip. You can still snake the chassis into the rear clip and work it into the front splitter so you lose the nasty horizontal seam that would otherwise be behind the rear wheels.
