Slixx General Lee decal sheet

What kit are you building?  The MPC General Lee or a Revell 1969 Charger as the GL?

Any pictures?

Mike, i am building the MPC with the correct rear window... was a present i wished and became in april last year. startet my built in july.

I am building the GL from movie 2005. A lot of scratchbuiling, changes...to make it "perfect" in my view. i love this "hardcorekits". If your interested, here is the link from the progress (in german).

I have planed to build a second with the Revell Charger.

Dominik, thanks for the link to the German forum.  Using Google translator I read through most of it.  The modifications you did are amazing.  I'm sorry to see you had a problem with the clear coat.  I'm sure it will look much nicer when it's all finished.

I'm actually doing almost the same thing to an MPC General Lee kit.  I still have to upload the progress pictures to Photobucket so I can post them. I've made quite a few modifications.  Maybe it's time I start a build thread here.

The Slixx lettering doesn't have white around the letters

Umm, I received my set from Slixx today and it DOES have the white around the letters.

after delivery the decals from SLIXX and FFSMC-Production, i will show you the differences.

On the Left SLIXX, on the right FFSMC:

Closer look to FFSMC:

if we take a look on each together, we can see differences in lettering...(above SLIXX, below FFSMC)...

...and the flag (above SLIXX, below FFMSC):

what to say? Hm. the decals from FFMSC looks like the "original" out of the mpc-kit. they have the same semigloss surface. The drawing of the flag is close to the "original". on the other hand, the lettering from SLIXX are approximately to the "originals" out of the mpc-kit.

 

to justify:

before i stripped my General Lee, i have traced the decals, to draw / print them later my self. time goes by...new aftermarket decals are available now. to compare them, take a look to my drawings.

First the FFSMC.

now you have to decide...i will choose the FFSMC.

Dominik, this is a nice review of these 2 GL decal sets.  The lettering font on the Slixx set looks like it did in the early seasons of the TV show except not as bold.  The flag on the Slixx set seems to look more like the early seasons flag although the bars are narrower.  The front license plate flag on the FFSMC set is better.  If I had to pick I'd go with the flag from the Slixx set.  I like the placement of the stars and the darker blue but that's just my preference.  I also like the fatter numbers on the Slixx set.  Either way both sets are very nice.
