oldcarfan Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I finally got something to the point were I can call it done for now. Still a few details left, but good enough. It is the original MIami VIce boat that was released in the mid 80s. Found it in a consignment shop here in Austin along with the followup non MV German release. Bought both for 20 bucks. The Vice boat's decals were to dried out so I had a sign shop scan them and print them on vinyl. The paint is Tamiya. Could have done better on it but I just wanted to get something done.
1930fordpickup Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Gary this looks very nice. All it needs are a couple of ladies in the back. 20 bucks for two of these kits what a deal.
oldcarfan Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 It is still a great kit and has been re-released a few times. I think the last was a Revell Germany release that they called simply the Offshore Power Boat. I had the original version back when they first came out and somewhere along the line I lost it. The kit is easy to build, seems pretty accurate and turns out a nice shelf model. It measures about 13 inches. The engines are molded into a bucket that comprises the engine room. With a little detail painting they look good. I really can't think of anything bad to say about it except I wish there was a 1/24 scale version to go with the MV Testarossa and Daytona! It practically falls together as they say. Plus it gave me the chance to research all the cool boats on the internets. Now if I could just find my old white linen sit and pastel T-shirt!
MAGIC MUFFLER Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Looks like it turned out really nice!! Brings back a few old memories watching that old show….thx
