RodBurNeR Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Isn't that either an Alpha or a McBernie Coachcraft kit? A front clip replaces the Z front end and the rest bonds to the existing. The one real departure is the remaining hatch. I love those, a small block Chevy would really make it interesting. I remember reading about those in Kit Car mag about '90 or so. I've seen 1 Mcbernie here in San Diego completed and 1 Alpha in Tucson that I doubt ever got finished. This was my grandparents car, that's my Dad standing up on the passenger side. Waddya think it is? i missed this one til i saw a post from george asking if someone was going to guess.... 1924 chrysler b70 phaeton? hard to see cuz it's blurry , maybe a 1924 Nash Phaeton?
samdiego Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Nope. How long do I do this before I cave and tell all? Blurry? Hey, you're not supposed to blow the photo up to read the rad emblem. One hint, it is American. Pops was a patriot. Anyway, was I right on the 250 GTO replica? Edited May 2, 2008 by samdiego

Anyway, was I right on the 250 GTO replica? ok then is it a 1924 Packard? or a 1924 Isotta? i am stumped! the fenders say "1924" to me, there was a LOT of cars that looked like this one in that year.
samdiego Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 You've pegged the year, Bob, although this manufacturer wasn't one to change yearly, stylwise.
RodBurNeR Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) ok i give up....the windsheild looks like dodge, i can't put a finger on the grille, but reminds me of Rolls Royce, peugeot was similar but i think had 4 doors suicide in the rear....anyways, i give up lol Edited May 2, 2008 by awbcrazy
samdiego Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Since it's killing George . . . And Bob did get the year even though the ad is for '26. Now that is ad copy writing! It actually says Moon in Grandmother's handwriting in the lower right corner of the photo and that this was Gramps first brand New Car. Edited May 2, 2008 by samdiego

Nick F40 Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) looks like a 351W. I think the 302 is a lot narrower. not quite, but close and 1969 is not the year. I guess I can give the hint now, it isn't a small block. The engine is Modellbezeichnung Porsche Flugmotor PFM 3200, the technische Daten, If I know German correctly, the technical Data, once again if I know correctly: 6 cylinder and 220 bhp or something close to that, from 1981 to 1990, I think. Edited May 2, 2008 by Nick F40
CAL Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 correct on the PFM. I don't know on the ford. It sure looks like a Windsor block to me. IFAIK, they didn't do any big block Windors unless you went SVO. In which case you could do a 455 inch. Not to change subjects but I built a pretty stout 351W, it was stroked to 377 inches offset ground to chevy journel size, 13.5:1 Ross Racing Super Lite Pistons (533g), Z-Gap lite tension rings, Brooks Aluminum Rods 5.7 + .200 chevy rod, Crane 690/710 split ground Roller Cam & matching Crane roller lifters, Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, SVO J302 Aluminum Cylinder Port matched heads, 2.02, 1.60 Milodon Stainless Steel valves, Port matched EB Vic JR intake, Barry Grant 850CFM Holly, SVO large tube headers, Milodon gear drive. Dinoed: 710hp @ 7300rpm, and ran 9:30s in a 2500# Mustang III with a glide and a 5:13 Mark Williams 9 inch and 33X15 Goodyears.

This I think will give it away but it was based on the dicontinued Lincoln Y-block. I'll give the next BIG clue of no one really gets it.

Nick F40 Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 then it's probably an MEL, 383/410/430/462 It's not an FE and not a 385 series. It is an MEL but none of those listed. It is an FE motor.
