I found it! It's the Taro.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Taro

Oh, morning research hurts the brain.:)

Right-O! The story I read about these talks about Toyota wanting to sell pickups in Europe and surrounding areas. To cut costs of shipping, they made an agreement with VW to have them build pickups in Germany for Toyota. Part of the bargain was VW wanted to sell some as VW's. All the parts are Toyota except for the badges. I can actually look up part numbers for these at work (VW parts dept.), and boy is it weird seeing Toyota part #'s in VW's parts software!

That's a Ford Capri, although I was going to say Jensen Interceptor, but for the c-pillar finish.

As for the Taro, it is kind of a weird relationship they put together. I wish I could get a small one-ton pickup like that though. It sure would be useful. Maybe I can buy it in pieces. :)

ok, what the hell  my resources are wrong.

Apparently you went and I went to the Philly show too as you can see, but I couldn't remember if it was convertible or not. I forgot about that plate, your response earlier was ringing a bell but not quite. I love the plate. :D

thanks! ;)
