Nick F40 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 A VW "Thing" racing in NASCAR??? Shucks it would prolly FIT right in, since NASCAR only races "Things" nowadays anyway.....I ain't seen a V-8 in a Mailbu in how long? EXACTLY, that is my point all along! Thank you, very very very much! A Thing would be sick!!! Now here's my funny thought, they would probably except it either though it is an IMPORT, they'll except it just because it's not from Japan. It'll be from Germany oh and not that I'm aware of

CAL Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) Mercedes? Actaully I think it has to be a Pre Type 38 KDF --- Porsche type 34-36 built by KDF. I found a Type 36 Cab AKA as a V2. It's a VW V3 Versuch, or "experimental" (a military designation) version, which was designed by Dr Porsche and built by KDF. It was later redesignated to a VW V30 and the production model was a Type 38. The NSU was more square. Who can tell me where the name Mercedes comes from without looking it up? Guest zebm1 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Dang it Andy.....it's a 1975 Opel GT Concept car.........sheesh....... A little easier one...... or perhaps an easier one...... There's still these two strays and nary a nibble...

george 53 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Mercedes was the name of the designers DAUGHTER! thus Mercedes/Benz!
CAL Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Mercedes was the name of the designers DAUGHTER! thus Mercedes/Benz! Wrong. It was a daughter, but not one of Benz's or his designers.

You are welcome, and thank you That is how we all learn. In any event, it was the daughter of Emil Jellinek who had Daimler DMG* build him a special lightweight car for the Nice-Magagnon-Nice rally, without a name Emil enter the car under is daughter's name Mercedes (Spanish for Grace). The car won and the name stuck. However it wasn't until several years later when Benz merged with Daimler that Mercedes-Benz was born. The interesting part is Mercedes had no real connection with Benz originally and were fearsome competitors on the racetrack. *Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschat
