mangodart Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Well, after the Olds, another wip, this time a 74 Camaro, I started with the AMT kit of a 77 AHC-100 model, mixed with a 70 Baldwin model. As it will bring the right hood, a detailed engine bay and chassis, and the right wheels. I would like to reproduce this particular car which has been sold in action http://assets.blog.hemmings.com/wp-content/uploads//2015/04/16.jpg http://assets.blog.hemmings.com/wp-content/uploads//2015/04/031.jpg So on this pic, you can see that I've glued the Ttop in place, and the front and rear valance. The engine bay, rear spoiler, hood will go on the Camaro Then, to have an exact replica, I have to modify the rear window as there not the same between a 77 and a 74 model, so I cut some material on the 70 body and glue it on the 77 : You can see also that the engine bay fits " like a dream" The rear spoiler from the 70 is much more correct than the one from the 77 kit, so I use it, but it was larger than the body, so I cut it in 3 elements :
mangodart Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Then I glue the 2 "border" on the car, and work on the rear hood portion to fit it between. I didn't resist a little mock up just to show you how it goes, of course the will seat higher once finished Next step is putty to smooth all these modifications, Be patient on this one as I'll not finished it tomorrw
louie Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Great subject to build. I read about the car a few years ago and I believe that it is the last nickey camaro to be built. Pretty awesome stuff, looking forward to watching this. Thank you for sharing.
JTalmage Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 This is looking great. Can't wait to see more.
Bob Ellis Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Yeah, by 1974, the government put a Cease and Desist on modifying new cars for performance.
