Nice job on the bowsprit chains.

Well I'm so cross with myself, went  to do some rigging on this and dropped it, snapped off the rear mast broke the shrouds on the fore mast snapped some of the rigging on the bowsprit, a few of the hatches have come off, broken some of the stanchions round the top of the rear cabin. luckily nothing that cant be fixed but its put me back quite a bit, Grrrr and no one to blame but my butter fingers. I could almost swear, flippin heck, blimey and fiddle sticks (sorry for the profanities there)

Ahh, the joys of ship building. I  feel your pain, it's a horrible feeling when you've invested a lot of time and effort on a build, only to damage it by some freak accident. I trust that you will be able to repair the damage with out to much trouble.

Hi all well repairs made.

This believe it or not was the worst bit ( I glued that wheel on at least half a dozen times)

and made a bit more progress

Hi all here is tonight update may I first say anyone contemplating this ship, please read the rigging instructions alongside the build instructions and dont leave them till the end, as you can plainly see I have not done that and still I've made things extremely awkward for myself, there is some rigging from the main mast to the four iron rings in the deck which now I have the belaying pin racks and the foremast shrouds in place will be extremely difficult to attatch.

anyway here is where I'm at now.

Baring in mind these are almost Identical scales (the thermop is 1/96 and the soliel is 1/100) I still cant believe how much heavier and bulkier and cumbersom the soliel was (I mean I know she had to be able to withstand cannon fire and such) but she must have been sooooooo slooooowwwww

They are looking really nice. 

Sailing the Soleil must have been like sailing a bathtub, although contempory reports said she had "good sailing qualities"; whatever that means.  Remember that whole "cod & herring" thing?  Great for a submarine, not so hot for a surface ship.  The max speed of the Thermopylae was probably about 17 knots.  The Soleil would be lucky to make half that.

Hi all well this must be jinxed I went to get an hour in tonight and have had a catastrophe, now I've got several hours of remedial work, it's now back in the outhouse while I calm down.

Man, I feel your pain and frustration. So much hard work and now you have to do the bowsprit again. Deep breaths, find that calm place and start again.

I built that model when I was in my teens. Back when the instructions were in English and every part was named and you actually learned something when you built a model. I knew the name of every halyard and sheet and stay by the time I was done. A cathead got broken and I could never properly fix it so it ended up being junked. Better luck with yours.

Hi all got the rear railings on and made a start on the aft mast ratlines connections.

Hey Kap,you may want to reinforce the Dolphin Striker with an old airbrush needle.When I built my Thermop.i replaced the bowsprit with a brass tube to prevent deformation over time.
