jjsipes Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 By the way Great Looking Model. Have been collecting items to do this build myself.
gtx6970 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Here's a picture from Facebook page "Dandy Dick Landy - Tribute to A Legend" that claims it's from 1974 Gatornationals. I guess the best thingto do would be to ask Robert Landy to see what he knows. Also Geoff Stunkard is working on a book titled "Landy's Dodges" that should be available in 2016 that should have info about this car one way or another. I can honestly say I've never seen that picture before. But then,,,,,,,I tend to stay in the 1971 and older stuff . Cool find
Reeves Racing Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 I knew the pictures I had were of a tribute car because of the cut off switch above the tail light.I had only seen the pictures of the tribute car and really didn't care if was an "actual" car he ran so this new picture is really cool. Thanks!I had the kit and the Slixx decals and liked the car so I built it. lolI'm not a rivet counter or that interested in exact replicas. Race cars change through out the year, I have had to replace or change decals on my own race car because they started peeling off or changed to a different manufacturer for a part. I don't think I have ever gone a complete racing season with the same exact decals on my car.My dad has used 3 different hood scoops in one season, so which scoop was correct if you were to build a model of his car?A picture of a race car is just that, a snap shot of the car at that moment in time. A fender gets dented, an area needs repainted, and the decals change. Some times colors change. It's just fun to make a model of what you like.
OutaFocus Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) I can honestly say I've never seen that picture before. But then,,,,,,,I tend to stay in the 1971 and older stuff .Cool find Look at the tail lights, it's a '70 Challenger. Not the '70 Landy paint scheme, but a '70 car. I can't read the class designation over the number on the side glass, but I think it's an SS car based on the engine callouts on the hood scoop. Edited November 21, 2015 by OutaFocus
