Before I start to resize my pics more suitable for net/forum use, does anyone have any advice on feeing up space I can use please? I have used up my allocation MB, so do I just go through my posts deleting pics?

I'm not the greatest computer user so don't know all the ins and outs, is it best to post them in a gallery first? For some reason I have difficulty dragging them or posting URLs from Fotki or Photobucket even though I read/watched the clip on such.

Thanks, J

As you have discovered posting pictures directly from you computer quickly eats up your usable storage space on the forum. Your best bet is to post pictures form a secondary photo hosting website such as Fotki or Photobucket.  I myself use Fotki.  To post a picture:

  • right click on the full size photo (not the thumbnail) in the Fotki folder and select "Copy"
  • right click in the post on the forum where you want to add the photo and select "Paste"

That's it.

Thanks, both of you for so much help, cleared a fair bit out. :)

This site only allows a very small amount of space to upload images directly from your computer, because this site is NOT meant to be a photo hosting site. Can you imagine the amount of storage space we would need if this site hosted all of the photos we constantly post here?

The right way to do it it to open a photo hosting account, like Photobucket.  Photo hosting sites are designed to do just that... host (or store) your images on their servers. Load all your images into albums on your photo hosting site, then you post the link to your photois here in your posts, not the actual photo. The photo stays parked on your photo hosting site's server, taking up their space, yet we can still see the image here in your posts because you posted the link to the image here, not the image itself.

I have used Photobucket for many years, have hundreds (maybe thousands) of photos posted there, and still am at only 22% of my FREE account capacity.

-I myself, use a Piriform "CCleaner". This program removes unused, unwanted, content and opens memory for the RAM, the disk space, freeing up space that your computer fills with everything you do on it as a "memory" of action, this opens a tremendous about at times (I run a scan of it once a week)

Also adds to the speed of your computer done regularly, as it frees up RAM usage!

Free and easy! (And no I'm not in any way connected to this company, I'm merely stating that it works, and works well!) would recommend it to anyone!

As for photo hosting, I myself use a place called "Hubgarage" its actually for real cars, BUT they have an "art" section, for those who draw, build models, you name it as long as its "art" NOTHING you'd see elsewhere, (they even say on the site "Do NOT post something you wouldn't show your Mamy"........... and unlike my experience with photobucket (only worked for me about 3/8th the time!!!) SO I switched, have had NO issues since, and theres NO LIMIT! And in "talking" its like a cleaned up garage atmosphere between the members. -A LOT of good guys over there. AGAIN I'm in NO WAY connected to this site, I'm merely stating that I've had good luck with its services.....

Hope this helps!
