thinking of using the bamboo to cover the doors of the cab, and line the bed with it....

I like the idea for the inside the truck bed. Real nice wheel and tire choice. I really like the both choices for the roof...

Thank you Carl, I have decided to go with the laser cut paper for the roof, I like the delicate look of it.

Had this in mind that I have been wanting to try for a while went to hobby lobby and couldn't find the card stock that I really had in mind, gonna go to Joann's tomorrow they have a lot more selection hoping to find something more of a tiki theme, could always print one off of line and try that....

Its a covering for the inside of the cab, door panels back of the cab...

When i finally was able to cut open the shape of the sunroof the left over piece looked great as a sun visor, just was to skinny width wise so thought i would scratch one from the cot from the mpc jeep kit that was reissued since it had a slight curve in it , so now just to come up with a couple brackets to hold it to the cab!!!

    Darren,

I really like the map on the interior of the cab. That looks cool. The visor is a great idea as well . For brackets you might take some of the filigreed paper andsuper glue a couple of matching pieces together. And then us some plastic underneath where is won't show. Hope that makes sense??? lol

Gator, it does make sense, had to google filigree paper but once I did I knew what you are talking about. that would be cool, was thinking using watch parts for the brackets but may play around with the paper look first or cover the brackets with the paper, thank you for that idea I like it.....

by the way Gator is this what your talking about for the filigree paper?

      Darren,

That might qualify. But I was thinking more along the lines of the paper you used for the roof opening !

          Darren,

I am pleased that you like the idea for the visor brackets . You could even do the whole visor with that patterned paper. If anyone can carry it off ? It is you!

OH your idea for the inside of the doors and pick up bed sound cool, Over here, They do a lot of wall covering , using split bamboo. Sometime they use a torch to color the joints and add some texture or depth the the project. They also use a product called Amican witch is thin strips of bamboo woven into a mat in different patterns. The Amican is used aa a wall covering on houses inside and out sometimes it gets  varnished, or possibly polyurethane.

Gator I like also the idea of using the patterned laser cut paper for the visor, Was thinking about using the visor as a template then cut out the inside of the visor and add the paper inside of it. Will give that a try and update with pics.....

           Darren,

Your bamboo looks like it will work for the bed rails !

I also like your idea to use the visor that you made and cut it out and insert the patterned paper. Maybe you could match the outline of the roof cutout??? ;-))

I was in the supermarket the other day and saw these hot wheels and right away ideas came to mind, for 1 the colors, and thinking of using the front of the cars as headlights, and the fenders for something in the interior, and liking the green plastic pieces still thinking about those. I do like the colors i think they work together for a tiki theme, I originally was thinking ivory and doing a weathered look using the salt method, and after seeing these thinking of going with something to match these colors.

    Darren,

I like your headlight idea. I was thinking along those lines as well. Only in a slightly different location.

OH before I forget please send me your home address in a pm. I will be looking for those decals over the weekend.

Gator, let me know what you had in mind for location of the headlights, It may be a much better location than what I posted, after I cut if off and looked at the fenders it was not the location I had in mind when I first seen the hot wheel, I am totally open for any ideas...

   Darren,

I was thinking more centered on the fender and mounted a little bit lower. Like where the pointed part would be centered and just above the bumper????
