slusher Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I lived near St. Louis when they snagged the Rams. The big dig against LA was always that they did a poor job of supporting teams, and never went to see them. But even if the actual stadium was empty, wouldn't the TV deal alone pretty much guarantee a profit? What i remember was the Rams and the Raiders would not support the teams. I remember the raiders having a playoff game and the stadium was near empty. The oilers left Hustion becaus of support and the city would not build a new stadium. Now there has been talks of the Rams moving again. LA has been trying to snag a team for years...

This goes back to what I said in my last post: It's hard to draw fans with mediocre (or worse) teams. The Rams haven't had a +.500 season since 2003, while the Raiders haven't had once since 2002. The Chargers, OTOH, have a much better record over the last decade or so, but I have my doubts as to how well they'll be accepted in another city, especially if they're sharing a stadium.

Eli said he would not play for the chargers when they drafted him because he said they had no commitment to win. Is why New York and San Diego traded Quarterbacks. I believe ownership has the biggest part of making a winning team.
fumi Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 And on the same subject, how does a big city like Las Vegas have no pro sports teams at all? No baseball, football, basketball, or hockey? How is that possible? You would think the big brains running pro sports would be eager to tap the Las Vegas market.Speaking of hockey, I think the last thing the NHL really needs is yet another team, especially in the Sun Belt.
