Hi All, I am considering a 1/12 scale Renwal Gullwing.

Are these any good,problems,etc...

How about any other cars by them.

Thank you in advance.

I could write many paragraphs on how bad the 1/12 Renwal / Revell kits for the Mercedes Gullwing and the Ferrari 275 GTB are. Big toys that make Barbie cars look like Pocher classics. The Ferrari is impossible to make look right inside or out. If Palmer had made a 1/12 kit, this would be it; every element of the body is dead wrong.

The Gullwing can be made to look decent with an unnecessarily large amount of work. The body buck was pretty accurate, but whoever did the finishing details blew it. Advance at your own risk. But if you choose to go ahead, I can provide you with a lot of advice. PM me for lengthy details.

For the Gullwing, go with the 1/16 Minicraft/ Entex, etc., which isn't perfect or easy -- DON'T do the Italeri Gullwing, which adapts the different dimensions of their 300 SL roadster kit. However, the 1/16 Italeri roadster may be the best of all 300SL kits, in spite of a windshield frame that needs to be rounded out in the upper corners.

Actually, the Italeri 1/16 has better details; the Minicraft has a more accurate body and a complete spaceframe, but lacks a firewall, and has better wheels. My plan is to moosh them together.
