Snake45 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Irony? As I am reading this post, there is a commercial on TV for a Sleep Number bed and what song is used? "Bend Me, Shape Me" !It's like ray-ee-ain, on your wedding day...
Harry P. Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Just a guess here Harry but unless there are some unreleased recordings, we have probably heard the last of the Eagles as a group. I think you're probably right. The problem is, Glenn sang lead on so many of their huge hits... Take It Easy, Lyin' Eyes, New Kid in Town, Peaceful Easy Feeling, etc., etc. It would seem weird to hear those songs sung by someone else...
XJ6 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I've always like Desperado and Take It to the Limits. This news just sucks. The future of music isn't lookin very good. I cringe knowing that people like Miley and Dweeber are what's popular.Agree on that ?

There was a tribute album about 20 years ago, mainly country artists, covering many of the Eagles tunes. I remember Travis Tritt did a version of Take It Easy and while not exactly the same, it was a nice rendition. He even did a music video (back when they played music videos on MTV and CMT!) with the Eagles in it. There are some Eagles cover bands that will probably get some more gigs as a result of Glenn's passing. Unlike Boston, Journey and other bands, I would suspect that the Eagles will not try to replace Glenn and hit the road again. Given their ages, and the fact that their last two tours grossed hundreds of millions of dollars, they will probably just hang out and "Take It Easy" !

I have that Eagles tribute CD. "Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles." It came out during the Eagle's 14-year breakup. I agree Travis Tritt's version of Take It Easy wasn't too bad. But that's because the Eagles themselves were the band who played in the video!
Harry P. Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Billy Joel and his band doing a really nice tribute to Genn Frey at a concert last month...with the whole crowd singing long. RIP Glenn...
