junkyardjeff Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I am taking a AMT 36 Ford coupe and making a late 40s custom,I found a chopped 3 window top from the original 60s kit and using the flipper hubcaps and ribbed bumpers from the 40 sedan delivery kit. Going to keep the flathead in this build since I do not have a late 40s OHV motor to put in it,I have the optional Pontiac motor from this kit but too new for the period I am going for. Deep maroon if I can find any in a rattle can with a saddle interior.
junkyardjeff Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 There is going to be a change in direction on this build,I am going to build it as a roadster since the doors do not line up to the top so I have another kit to build the chopped top version after some modifications.
JustanotherKiwi Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Liking both directions, I am building a 50's ish drag roadster out of a glue bomb, definitely one of my favourite all time kits
junkyardjeff Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 The coupe will be built after I make the door lines line up with the chopped 3 window top,I wish I would have noticed that before I got started and might have to look into the recent release and see how it is to make the custom coupe.
Luis Ayala Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hi Jeff !!!Looks really cool !!!! Love those white wall tires, perfect match. Thanks for sharing.
junkyardjeff Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 When I get back to building the coupe I think I am going to see if I can get 37 front fenders to work.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 You would get a better result by first gluing the cowl and door tops to the body, and painting it as a unit.
junkyardjeff Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 I wondered if I should do it but I never built one of these AMT 36s before
mod3l Lover Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Yeah Jeff, I noticed the same thing about the doors, you just gotto slide that cowl forward til it lines up, then fill the smallgap left behind it there. I love that color on that car, you made a great choice! David S.
