Finally went to my brother's house and got pics of the one I did.  This is pretty dead on to what his car looked like.  Wish I could have gotten the dash as well...

And definitely not hijacking your thread.  :)

The color is Testor's Citrus Yellow Metallic. Was pretty much dead on the 1/1 car.  The wheels are Cragar S/S ordered from online.  The original car was pretty beat when he got it. It was missing an engine mount, so when he'd try to go up the hill, the engine would flop and almost dumped out.  He got ripped off by the sales place a little.  Engine was eventually destroyed by a cold winter and no antifreeze.

Do you know if Testor's still do that colour? The colour I have for my build is close but its not metallic so I was going to decant it into the air brush and add some silver myself.

It's still listed on their site under Automotive Sprays:

Citrus Yellow Metallic - Gloss

28101 - 3 oz. Lacquer Sprays

You might also look at the Lime Ice in the One Coat lacquers line.  Personally, I think the Citrus Yellow might be a closer match.

Mine earned the name "The Beast", she was tough as nails, I got the original 318 up to 293,000 miles before it finally gave up on me. Have you done the upper/lower ball joints and inner/outer tie rod ends on your yet? Mine would last between 113,000 and 117,000  miles before they had to be replaced. It was an issue with that particular body style, when the Charger finally had to be sent to the junkyard, I bought a '71 Road Runner (340 automatic, Dark Green Metallic, Green full vinyl top, Green interior, that car hated my guts and wanted me dead!), the same problems with the front suspension popped up on it at the same mileage range. And my vinyl top was the normal white vinyl, take a picture of the top and post it, I've never seen one like that.

Oh, and my name is actually Mike (It's hidden at the bottom of my posts), I stuck the Olaf in there to mess with people...if you're not having fun, you're not living!

Hi mike here is that pic of the turtle shell vinyl roof

I know this is not the greatest pic ,Can anyone help I need to get a bench seat with a similar stripping on. The seat splits in the middle . Or could anyone let me know how to recreate this pattern please

I like where your project is going. If I were doing this project, I would use the Revell '70 Road runner front bench seat, and get some .030 half-round styrene strips for the pleats, and some .080  sheet styrene for the flat surfaces. I would also use the flat styrene, glued on to reshape the head restraints on the Road Runner Bench. The piping can be replicated with sewing thread.  I used those techniques when I did my '67 Chevy Concours Estate Wagon a few months ago.

As far as the engine goes, the AMT '71 Duster 340 kit has a very nice small block engine with the A/C accessories, even though it has a 4-speed transmission. Either the Lindberg Dodge 330, or Plymouth Belvedere (Stock version) has a Torqueflite 904 transmission.

One of my future projects is going to be a '72 Charger Rallye 440, to bookend with my '71 R/T 440 and my Hemi R/T. So many Chargers, so little time!!!!

I think the vinyl top pattern was called "Gator Grain". It was not a common option. It looks like reproduction material is available from Legendary Interiors, but it's pretty expensive. I'm not sure how you would replicate that in scale- perhaps you could make a decal of the pattern somehow in a slightly darker green than the vinyl top. It looks like the "scales" are pretty glossy, devoid of texture. In going to MANY Mopar shows (including Carlisle for the past 20 years), I have only seen Gator Grain tops on a small handful of cars.

Bill I think its the Tortoise Grain that I have . I do have coming some wrapping paper that has a very close pattern to it. I think I could reduce it on the computer then print it on to decal paper. But I think that the pattern will be to small to see it properly.

I did get the doors refilled last night so progress is being made :P

Dave, you definitely have a rare option on that vinyl top, I've been to literally hundreds of car shows, and have never seen that vinyl top once!

That's great Mike thanks it makes it feel that little bit more special ;) . I would like to find some of the dye that Dodge used to offer so I could put some of the colour back onto it as its a bit sun faded . But I doubt I would find any now <_<But never say never :P

Hi all well I got a tiny little update. Not much but its something done. After a long search I think I have the closest colour to Chrysler blue.

As always comments good or bad welcome

Hi all well I managed to get a bit of time to get the door card tops swapped just a bit of fine tuning . So now I have the correct padding and wood trim to match the 1/1. The window cranks will be replaced with PE. Also I redid the door slots as there was some faint lines showing. Hopefully that should be the end of filling the body. All being well I should get it in final priming soon.

As always comments good or bad welcome

Well after a long search I think I have found the correct colour for the Charger!. On the left is the colour the car is in and on the right is the original colour it should be in . I will be painting the model in the original Light metallic green and not the VW pea green. The paint technican that I got to do a spectral analysis of the body said that He would get Fired if he had done such a bad job of matching the paint :D The 1/1 WILL be repainted one day in the original colour

Comments welcomed

I like that colour

I assume you mean the original metallic green and not the VW pea green ?

Thanks for dropping by for a look Stephen ;)

I should have the paint in a few days for the 1/1 and the 1/25. The 1/1 will be getting its scratches blended out this week in the pea green  . Until there are enough funds for the 1/1 to be repainted in the original light metallic green

Well a good day was had...! Finally managed to get the body painted today. I cant take the credit for the super finish though . I have just had a friend do some touch ups on the 1/1 . So the sun was shining there was no wind no bugs just the right temp and moons of Jupiter where just right :D My now good friend John said, As he had the spray gun out and he could mix the EXACT colour why not let him paint it . Here is the result . Paint is Base and 2k clear. Comments welcomed good or bad ;)

Tell John he does nice work, it  looks to be a perfect match for the  real car!  The 2k Clears are a great product, I use 'em occasionally...that means when my can of activator hasn't dried up!

Thanks guys. Yes he is very good he has a van that he drives around your house to repaint stone chips and scratches to the paint on your car. The van has the ability to mix any colour paint even taking sunfade and age in to account . I was very surprised to see john mix the paint there is Orange black silver dark green white gold pearl . The paint is EXACTLY the same colour as the original colour the car left the factory in. The 1/1 is a VW Pea green and compaired to the original Dodge colour its horrible and the 1/1 will be repainted as Dodge intended
