Kenny900 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 i know it's not a truck, but it kinda counts as one. How would I be best to mask up all these windows to spray on desert yellow? I need to stick the shell on the chassis to do it, as I need to spray certain parts of the chassis as well. The interior is already installed and painted appropriately(doh) and I see this as my best option. Advice welcome. thanks in advance!
clayton Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 if the glass is in place that's a tuft one. See if you can stick paper under the shell and glass.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Lay out a piece of masking tape on glass or clean workmat and cut small square grids (for example 4mm x4mm) Patchwork your area starting along the frames and overlap each piece of tape. Smooth all edges with a blunt round toothpick. Same method for masking aircraft canopies. Edited January 27, 2016 by Old Buckaroo
Kenny900 Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) The glass isn't in place yet, but I like your method. Thanks for the help guys!and by the way, the German aircraft you have pictured looks nice! Edited January 27, 2016 by Kenny900
redneckrigger Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I have used the method described by Sean with good luck. I have also used Magic Masker, a liquid masking agent that forms a film on the item to be masked, and gets peeled off later.
Kenny900 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 This is my solution to my dilemma. I have made sure it's all sealed and there are no gaps, so I should be right to play with the paint! Thanks for your suggestions guys!
