I have been searching and searching, but havent found any help with applying a chameleon like paint job, where you can see multiple colors depending on how light hits the car. Is it even possible with model cars? Im sure it is but how would this effect be attained? Is there a premade paint or even better a way to do it custom so you could put however many colors/combinations you wanted?

Also in general i posted a topic about buying an Iwata Airbrush and compressor but not sure which airbrush to get(lots to choose from) if i could get some help over there on that as well Id REALLY appreciate it ;) Thanks guys

Hey, its simple. Just go to your local advance auto or autozone and look at thier Dupli-color line of Automotive paints. A very nice, and easy paint to use on models. Not too hot anymore as they have changed many of thier formulas. They have a paint such as you describe. I believe three different colors. I have not used them yet as being unemployed I cant afford it right now. The kit should run you about $20.00. I do know one of the combinations was a purple. Also if you are looking for something simular, but not quite, but on your own dupli-color of choice, they have a effexer wich is kinda like a pearl over coat(gloss coat) that you apply on top of other colors. I used this on a 1/8 scale pontiac motor that I sprayed in white and it just looked awesome just like a white pearl. That can runs about $6. Hope this all helps. Jody

I think by now, every custom paint manufacturer has their own line of this paint. I is recommended to be applied over a black base, but can be applied over other colors for different results. If low cost example would be a 4oz bottle of Auto-Air colors, they have a couple different color choices. Auto-Air is relatively easy to find, even some art supply stores have it displayed next to the regular Createx colors (Auto-Air is made be createx)

Dupli-Color's 3 step paint is called "Mirage"

I used it a few years back on a clock I made for a friend and it worked great, just make sure you use it when it is very low moisture in the air and the surface is SPOTLESS. I had to re-do the clock because it showed everything! :D The other biggie is to follow the instructions on the paint exactly as they say. It can be a little tricky believe it or not.

Not the best pic of it, but here is the clock.
