Managed to get a little bit done yesterday evening. I decided to airbrush all of the wheel wells semi gloss black so it would look correct. Also, I got all of the suspension minus the brakes in place, and I got the fuel lines ran and secured to the chassis.

I also completed the headlights to look like the 98 models.

  • 4 months later...

I bet you guys thought I had fallen off of the face of the earth, lol. I'm back after a long time away from the bench due to my 1:1 taking priority. Headgasket started weeping water under boost (31psi for 7 years on stock head bolts, what could I expect, lol.) So the past months have went to working on this, and getting it dialed in and small minor stuff.  I'll include pics of it

Anyways, let's get to what we are all here for, lol.  I'm almost done with the Supra. There weren't many pictures to take of it after where I left off. I had to custom make an exhaust which is scaled to a 4" since it's running a big single turbo setup. I also wrapped the downpipe to make it look like it had heat wrap on it. Go easy on me on the lines, this is my first time running brake lines/fuel lines.

I still have to detail the exhaust and the bottom side of the chassis as well as the engine compartment. Also, I still have to put the mirrors and the wing on. In these pics, the wing is just sat on so that's why there is a gap. I am waiting on my scalemotorsports carbon fiber decals to get here to do the rear wing and front lip. I quickly threw some white fabric on the bench and snapped the last few pics with my phone.

That turned out great. The paint looks perfect. Good that you finally got back to it.

Later-

Thanks Tom! Got a little more left to do on it before it goes Underglass. But I am extremely satisfied with the paint on this. Scalefinishes knocked it out of the park on this factory Toyota color. This is probably one of my best paint jobs...not bad for my 2nd time using an airbrush B)

I agree with Scalefinishes paint. Best IMO

Managed to get my decals on last night, minus the carbon fiber for the two spoilers. Still waiting on that to get here. Also still have to install the mirrors, probably going to put those on last to keep from breaking them off. I also detailed the underside of the chassis/exhaust/hot side of the turbo and under the hood.

Looks great! I love the wheels too!!! Oh & nice Evo!!!

X2!

Looks awesome, nice attention to details, and that paint is just eprfect for the Supra!

Thanks a lot guys....this is probably my favorite paint job to date. Can't wait to get my carbon fiber decals in and get this thing under glass so I can start back on my 55 Cameo Pro Touring build.

So these finally got here last night, and I managed to get them cut and applied to the front and rear spoilers. This is my first time working with Scale Motorsports graphics, and they are awesome. Thought I was going to have some trouble, but after a little bit of struggle I got it. I used the Tamiya Tape templet method and cut out the decal from that. These decals are definitely made well, and don't tear/crack easily.

Going to let them dry for a day, then put some clear on them...also going to be a first for me. Any tips besides do very, very light coats, and waiting 30 min between coats?
