GlueTube Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I toss about 80 % because the adhesive is stale. I thought at first my technique was bad and found the BMF was a necessary and expensive evil for trimming models, but once I had the pleasure of using a fresh sheet--WOW did it work. Unfortunately I have no luck getting fresh stock. I wish the manufacture would mark a best before date! RegardsBrian Kroon
gtx6970 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I buy it straight from them manufacturer, that way I feel is the best chance I have of getting it fresh and as new as possible.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I'm not sure if this makes me happy or not. The '59 El Camino (with camper) is a grail project for me, and my foiling abilities at this time, really suck. I don't think the '59 El Camino kit is all that bad to foil. As far as 1950s cars go, it's pretty tame! Try a '59 Dodge or a '58 Buick! Steve

Roadrunner Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Yep, looks like the '59 will have to wait for a while. The foiling job on my GTX, looks like a child did it. Edited March 15, 2016 by Roadrunner
Fanof69 Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Again, I have to agree with Tom. Seems that people have no problem spending $10.00 on a can of Tamiya primer, but they can't abide spending $8.00 on a sheet of foil every few months. I look at it from the perspective that I spend as much money on one jar of paint to paint one kit, as I spend on a sheet of foil that will do several. In other words, I don't worry about waste. Steve Good point. How much paint is wasted out of a can? 95%? I guess I can live with throwing away half my BMF
