W-409 Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Well I've been busy and haven't had much bench time lately, but I've made minor progress on this one anyway. Front subframe was painted gloss black as well as most of the front suspension. Steering rods and sway bar were painted with Humbrol Metallic 56 and after installing those inner fenders, I glued that front suspension piece on place too. I still need to do a few touchups here and there and paint a couple of bolt ends with brighter silver, but it's good to have something glued together too. Yesterday I spent some time in the "paint booth" again. Mold lines were cleaned from the body, which took pretty much time since this kit had quite nasty mold lines that were tricky to get rid of at some spots. A light coat of primer was shot on the body to reveal all little flaws there still are, but to be honest it looks surprisingly good, only a couple of little corrections need to be done and then it's ready for another coat of primer and then I can move on to paint. A big bunch of smaller parts were cleaned and primed as well...
Sledsel Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Those are some funky tie rods....... hahahah The only thing I see off is the passenger side fuel cap.Great looking so far
W-409 Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 Thanks Andy! It's a good thing that you pointed that out... I didn't realize it until now that it had fuel cap on both sides. Luckily it's an easy fix, as there are a couple of other spots that need to be corrected before painting, too.
