Jhedir6 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) New start. Going to be mostly OOB with a few additions. Rally stripes from a Chevelle SS kit. Redline tires from the parts bin with RB Motion's valve stems for the rally wheels. Detail master distributor. Spark plug and distributor boots from RB Motion. Mock up Cowl Induction hood for abit more of an aggressive look. And blocked up the rear suspension abit to lift the back up some more from stock. Colour on. Scale Finishes Chevrolet Mulsanne Blue. Overspray on the chassis, not sure how original that is, all the pics I found on line showed black chassis but most of those cars were all restored, but I'm going with the overspray look just because I've never tried it before. Chassis need to be masked and I'm going to paint the gas tank and front frame rails black later on today. Comment and Criticisms welcome. David Edited March 18, 2016 by Jhedir6

Jhedir6 Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Small update. Unfortunately things went sideways.....fast. I was using the decals from the Jack Reacher Chevelle from AMT. Even though it was a new kit I just bought a couple of months ago and the decal sheet looked perfect they were very brittle. I tried the black stripes first and the first stripe just fractured in the water as I tried to remove it. So I switched to the white stripes and being extra careful, I managed to get all the decals in place, except the last one, just reverted back to cosmic dust on me. So I had to try and remove the ones already on, and of course I marred the paint. I tried buffing it out and retouching the paint and it just kept getting worse. So, I gave up and just stripped the paint. I'm now in the middle of redoing the primer. Either I have to leave it plan or try to find another set of decals. I'd prefer the stripes, but I'll have to get lucky and see if someone has an extra set or can scan a set for me and I'll try to print them out myself.David
Jhedir6 Posted March 27, 2016 Author Posted March 27, 2016 Body repainted. Thanks to Renegade, who's sending me some new SS stripes, hopefully have them by the end of the week, I can finish the body up. Chassis is basically complete. Just need to add the rear shocks and the traction bars, just waiting for the paint to cure. Added some seatbelts to the front seats, just need to finish detailing up the door panels and dashboard then can install those. More later today, hopefully.
mikemodeler Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Looking very nice, sorry to hear about the decals, hope the second time around works better!
