oldcarfan Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I loved driving these little time bombs when I was in Italy. The kit is a 1/24th scale Autobianchi A112 made by Fujimi. It is amazing how tiny this car is. I thought at first it was a 1/32 scale kit, but no! It would almost fit in the bed of a standard American pickup. I bought the kit a long time ago and did a decent job I thought. Time was not kind to it however. The paint had gotten badly damaged, so I stripped and repainted it, and the tires were severely cracked. I couldn't even get the tires off without them coming apart, so I brushed thick acrylic paint into the cracks to help cover them. I learned a few lessons on this rebuild, such as Sharpie ink does not come off of fresh paint, no matter what you try. Over all, I am happy with it for now.
Craig Irwin Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I'm not familiar with Autobianchi autos, but I like basic "get you there" type of cars, interesting.
Rider Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 That is one little car, looks like it could have been a mid '80 version of a Mini.
oldcarfan Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 It was a supermini off shoot of the Fiat 128. I remember seeing one of these in Naples. It had dad, mom, three kids and grandma in it and it had a giant roof rack on top overflowing with all their vacation stuff, waiting for the ferry to Capri.
Rider Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Lol, what ever works. Very nice weathering on the windows BTW. It looks like a bunch of kids with sticky hands and a dog with a wet nose went on a long road trip, nice touch.
