Enamel Clear atop Lacquer Base ?

Please refresh my memory ; is it okay to use an enamel clear atop a lacquer base (colour coat) ?  Namely , Testors One Shot colour coat with Testors Enamel Gloss Coat .

Enamel clear tends to yellow over time. Why not shoot lacquer clear?

Financial consideration . I've already got the enamel gloss coat .

BTW , the colour in question is Inca Gold .

Enamel over lacquer is OK. The opposite would wrinkle the enamel.
