philo426 Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Thanks! This plane sure has a lot of surface area!I had to add paint to the color cup much more often than usual.Next up I will paint the underside light blue and the upper surface Desert Yellow. Then I will airbrush green blotches for the desert cammo scheme.
62rebel Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Always wanted to do this one in a "Where Eagles Dare" diorama depicting the escape from the airfield
Roadrunner Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Nice model. I had one but sold it (Pro Modeller boxing), but I'll chase down another one of these days.
Jim B Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Desert camo looks great. It looks like the Italian desert camo schemes.
Roadrunner Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I did a very similar scheme on a Ju 88A-4. Yours looks real nice.
Jim B Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 The Ju-52 was used by just about everybody & their brother (38 countries, including the US). Will this be a Luftwaffe version or a Regia Aeronautica aircraft?
philo426 Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Added the decals.i had to use Solvaset due to the corrugated surface.
Jim B Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nice job. I wonder if those red crosses really helped it in not getting shot down. I'd think that fighters could see them (assuming they looked), but not so sure about AAA. Guess you have to do something.
philo426 Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Yes I wonder how much the crosses would help.I am sure the Russians would not hesitate to shoot it down.
62rebel Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I imagine it took pilots with guts and determination to fly unarmed planes into and back out of combat zones
philo426 Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Yes it was really bad during the Battle of Stalingrad. Those lumbering Junkers were esy prey to a yak or mig .
philo426 Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Applied the decals to the underside. The solvaset really snuggles them down.
Roadrunner Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Did you clear coat the model first? I can't tell from the photos.
philo426 Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 No in this case I felt if would not help due to the corrugated surface. THE Solvaset is pretty strong so you can see the ribbed surface when you view the decals.
philo426 Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 Mounted up the landing gear and spats. The attachment points are sturdy.
Jim B Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Nice looking airframe. Are the engines well detailed in the kit?
