Zoom Zoom Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 By the time this page loads (aka est. mid-July ), Aoshima will have the first kit on the market of the new Japanese giant killer aka the R35 GT-R. Also four new 20" VIP wheel sets. Aoshima new models (scroll down to find R35 GT-R and VIP wheels) Okay Revell, time for a ZR1 for the smackdown I didn't really expect Aoshima to have it first. Really hoped to see Tamiya or Fujimi do one full-detail. But there's plenty of time, and further additions to the lineup (Spec V next).
Ken Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Lately, the Aoshima offerings seem to be on par with Fujimi and close to Tamiya in engraving fidelity. I will say that Tamiya still wins hands down on compareable offerings. The Bugel 20 inch rims look really nice, but I have no idea what I would use them on... yet!
crispy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I look forward to the new wheels, regardless of whether or not I can use them on something. However their was a set I thought would look excellent on the Ferrari 599. I have a feeling we'll get kits not only from Aoshima but Fujimi and maybe Tamiya. Now that this news is out it would be nice to see the other two come out with a release date, spy photo, something. I believe this will be a bankable kit for any one of the three companies as the ZR-1 kit will be for Revell....LOL Chris
Zoom Zoom Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Something tells me this hobby has turned a big corner, as news of this kit has gone over like a lead balloon on at least one forum that used to be "Skyline Central". Not surprised at the lack of interest in the US, but something tells me that doing the latest/greatest Skyline kit isn't like printing money like it was in the past for the Japanese kit mfg's.
crispy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 It's because we are still awaiting the release of: McLaren F1 Lotus Elise/Exige Aston Martin, pick one Yeah, that's it. I agree Bob. I was surprised to see that it's not as hot a topic as it should or could be. Wonder what new thing will turn everyone on their ear? Chris
Nick F40 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Cool, I guess I'll have to build one. I dunno though, they look heavy, bulky, and slow and people comparing it to a naturally aspirated Z06, you know what, you want R35 competition? ok, test it against something that is boosted or supercharged, the ZR-1 baby! That's cool, I would have thought Tamiya would be first.

Chris The GT-R is a neat car, but the McLaren and Lotus are higher up on my "want list", along with the Jag XK-8/XK-R and it's Aston Martin cousin...
