misterNNL Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Does anyone have a pattern for making Hallock windshield frame? I want to build one for a narrowed Speedster I am building. Thanks!
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Not too hard to make a cardstock pattern that you fit to the car to get your 'look', then cut it out of styrene as so...
misterNNL Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Thanks Bill.I saw this image on the web when looking at images of the Hallock windscreen and wondered you built this! What thickness styrene did you use?
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Thanks Bill.I saw this image on the web when looking at images of the Hallock windscreen and wondered you built this! What thickness styrene did you use?I SHOULD have mentioned on this thread that it's Rik Hoving's work. I DID mention that on another thread where I used the image.Anyway, it looks like .040" or so to me.
misterNNL Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 Bill, thanks to your posting of Rick Hoving's DIY Duval windshield frame I finally figured out how to proceed with designing my own version. The multiple compound curves involved including the shape of the cowl dictated designing it one side at a time then using that first side as a pattern for the other half.I now have a very rakish laid back windshield for my 1920 Olds speedster project. Thanks for the help!
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Glad I could help. Mr. Hoving's photos of that work really showed me the way to go on making custom windshield frames too. He's very talented and skilled, and his masters are as good as it gets.
