Lunajammer Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 This is quite the paint tutorial. Please be sure to post the failures too. Even those can inspire a starting point for someone. A friend of mine and I have been developing an ongoing art project and I think we are inspired by, and learn more from each others failures as we do from our discoveries.
Rider Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 Thanks Mike. I agree, we do learn from our failure, as can others.
Rider Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Some things just don't want to work out, and I am ok with that, I always get things sorted in the end. I simply couldn't come up with a design flow that worked and made me happy. Not wanting to strip the entire shell AGAIN I did some prestripping with ISO alcohol, then I decided to do one side at a time with Easy-Off. This has been a real challenge, I think it's the colours. I am having real trouble visualizing the layout in my mind.
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 As someone else mentioned, we can learn just as much watching people mess up paint jobs, as we can watching someone get it right first time ! The biggest problem I have with lowrider paint jobs is designing something I'm truly happy with, and then its trying to paint what you can picture in your head ! Keep going Lloyd were all learning with you here, ain't no shame in getting it wrong, its how the best painters become the best by trial and error....
Rider Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Cheers guys. How's the Impala coming along Martin?
Rider Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 The orange in the centre just wasn't going to work with my plan so it all had to go. Round 3? Round and round I go, where it'll stop I have no idea. Although this time I can say I finally have a complete finished working plan in my head. Please stand by. Next step will be to mask the lace off so I can lay down the black for the Spaz Stix Ultra Chrome on the entire shell. Thanks for looking in.
Rider Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Hi guys, haven't been here too much, sorry. Been following a few of the builds going on though. Well not having much luck with the paint on this. Perhaps I am just being to picky, what ever either way this it the direction I am going now. Slapping this one out. How ever it turns out this time is how it will remain. At least one more colour stage and some more treatments and I will call it done. Thanks for looking in. Edited March 11, 2017 by Rider
Rider Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 A couple more colour steps, clear coat and a good polish. These colours are really hard to photograph.
Rider Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 A few more coats of Candy Blue, I think I am going to stop here.
