I've been slowly working on this project over the last 6 months or so (along with 2 or 3 other weird projects). I figure posting it here might give me some motivation to move a little faster, but no promises ;-)

I'm using the body from the Italeri Armed Pick-Up (I bought the kit to use the gun for a NASCAR-based zombie hunting ute), the suspension and various parts from the AMT Bigfoot kit, the Viper V10 from the Monogram Dodge Ram VTS kit (1/25, but it works), a scratch-built frame, and Losi RC wheels that scale out to 48".

Here's where I'm at:

mockup4.thumb.jpg.75d3a94dc38445f51e2f7bmockup5.thumb.jpg.537ab1a94b7b9c087fea3c

Next step is figuring out the engine and transfer case mounts, suspension mounting points (I'll be doing a triangulated 4 link using the parts from the Bigfoot kit with new mounting points), and start on the interior. Then I can finish bracing the frame and see what it looks like in primer...

Questions, comments, suggestions appreciated!

Lots to like here. Your tube-frame work looks good so far. Hope you'll post pix of your "NASCAR-based zombie hunting ute" too.  :D

Oh yeah...welcome to the forum. B)

Thanks guys, it's fun to get lost in the tube work for sure.

Here's a pic of the zombie hunter... this is on the back-back burner, needs a lot of details, weathering, finishing, etc.

Man. Damm. That is seriously cool. I like the way you think.   :D

Thanks man, I'll get back to that one some day!

very nice !

Thanks!

Got a chance to get the engine, transmission and transfer case mounts figured out. The transfer case is the one from the Bigfoot kit cut down to fit. In these pics the engine and transfer case are glued in temporarily with tacky glue.

I put the intake on backwards so I can feed it from a snorkel up the side of the windshield.

Thanks for looking!

After a quick failure trying to use the Bigfoot kit parts for suspension links, I made a trip to the LHS and picked up some 2.4mm styrene tube, some 4.8x7.9 mm styrene rectangular tube, and some #00-90 hardware. I came up with the following as a prototype mount:

I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out... just 15 more to go ;-)
