Len Woodruff Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 What is the closset Tamiya color for the Corvette C6R?
Mal.au Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Hi Len I just painted one and I used Tamiya TS 47 Chrome yellow, compared to a friends diecast its really close I have also seen people use Camel yellow but I can't comment on that not having used it Mal
ismaelg Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Hi, I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard Camel Yellow is closer to the Millenium Yellow used in C5Rs. C6Rs are Velocity Yellow which is a hint lighter and less "orangy". As Mal mentioned I've heard Chrome Yellow to be an alternative, but again, I haven't done that myself. HTH Thanks,
crispy Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Len, I used Camel Yellow on mine. CLICK HERE to see mine. I was pretty convinced that this color was close, but must agree with Ismael. I think the 06's were a hint lighter. I'll have to get some shots of this outside to see its true color. Hopefully the pictures will help you make your decision. Chris
Len Woodruff Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 Thanks for everyone's help. I have the C6R Bad Boy Vette Decals on order from Strada Sports (made by Scale Motor Sport) and I should get them next week. I think I will make the final decision on what looks closet to the yelow in the decals.
crispy Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Len, if you'd like to pull out all doubt then Click this link Chris
robertw Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Not a Vette but I do have a model painted in Camel Yellow and it is too dark to match either Millennium or Velocity Yellow. I have a paint chip of Millennium Yellow and it is just a touch darker then TS-47 and Velocity Yellow is a little brighter then Millennium Yellow so it might be fairly close to TS-47 Chrome Yellow. TS-16 has a little more of a Lemon tint to it so it may also be close to the C6R colour. I also have the Bad Boys decals on order so will be checking its color against these two Tamiya colours when the sheet arrives. Rob W

crispy Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Hi Guys Has anyone used the paint Hiroboy sells and did you have any problems getting it posted ?? Mal Mal, I've bought paint from Hiroboy a few times and have never had any problems. I'm not sure what if any problems you'd have getting it shipped to Australia. I think the problems occur when people order a lot of paint. I usually have two or three colors and some clear. Hopefully someone from Australia can post if they have had any experience. Chris
Mal.au Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Might have to give it try and see what happens I guess if the postman brings me a package then its ok, if the federal police bring it then it is more than likely wrong Mal
Len Woodruff Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Mal I went to the Hiroboy website to order some of this paint. They have a minimum order that would require me to order 3 bottles of paint. With shipping the total would be more that $39.00 USD. Edited April 27, 2008 by Len Woodruff
