CAL Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 Send some of that 86 degrees over here. Is it cold over there... I used to live in WI, don't miss it one bit. well it's gone somewhere besides here... I remember 1984 June 17th it snowed here significanly, 12 hours later it was 75 degrees.
oldcars Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I live in the Springs. This was just another normal day. Happy Mayday by the way. Richard
Spike Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Send some of that 86 degrees over here. x2 this cold weather is pissin me off
Nick F40 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Dang your ground freezes fast!!! Does it not soak any heat in?
CAL Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Dang your ground freezes fast!!! Does it not soak any heat in? Another nice think about here, it can be 70 in Dec. And you don't need the ground to be frozen to get snow on it. it's too dry to freeze. Even in the dead of winter the snow doesn't stay around long. We had 38 inches on the ground that only lasted a week or so and it was gone, last year 24 inches on the ground that stuck around a little longer.
Joe Nunes Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) When living in Denver during the early eighties my wife, two young daughters, and I left the city on 4 July in our CJ-7. Was very warm so we had shorts and t-shirts on and the doors off the Jeep. Had a great trip into Estes State Park and when we drove to the top it was snowing a bit and we had a snowball romp with everyone until we got too cold to enjoy the fun. Simply drove back down the "hill" and warmed up again. I sure did love the scenery when driving in the mountains! Edited May 2, 2008 by rhoadapple
Harry P. Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 officially 86 degrees yesterday.... snowing today with accumilation and is supposed to continue into tomorrow. And I thought the weather here in Chicago was nuts!
Robert Myers Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 The day before yesterday was a beautiful warm day. Yesterday I woke up to 3 inches of snow. Today is sunny and warm. Southeast Idaho is a little unpredictable. Got to love the cold and snow, it gives me a good reason to head for the den and work on a model. The warm sunny days make me want to be outside enjoying them and not modeling. Just can't win!
CAL Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 And I thought the weather here in Chicago was nuts! Yeah, coming from not that far away Madison Wisconsin, that was the old joke, don't like the weather wait ten minutes and it will change. You midwesterns have nothing on us as far as crazy weather. Not uncommon to get 40-50 degree swings in a few hours. We still manage to average well over 300 days of sunshine a year. The wind, and you call yourselves the Windy City, lol, the wind can be nasty though we already have several days of 50, 80 and 100mph wind gusts.
CAL Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 it gets weirder... according to the themometer outside, which has been pretty accurate, says its 45 degrees, and it's snowing. Officially it says it's 43 degrees and the flakes are coming down.
Nick F40 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I thought snow only developed at 32 degrees?? even sleet.....rain maybe.
oldcars Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 It was not only coming down, but coming down sideways. That is what makes the Rockies so much fun. The weather people all drink here. Richard
Rob Hall Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 It was not only coming down, but coming down sideways. That is what makes the Rockies so much fun. The weather people all drink here. Richard Yeah, the weather was always unpredictable there.. I'm pretty much full time now in Phoenix/Scottsdale, but did live the last 11 years in Colorado (5 years in Colorado Springs, 6 years in Denver)....
bobss396 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 We're having some screwball weather here on Long Island. Last week we got past 70 for a couple of days, overall April was a lot warmer than May has been to date. The weekend was a little cool and blustery, but I managed to get 2 veggie garden plots planted as well as flowers planted for Mother's Day. Of course I really jinxed things by opening my pool on Saturday. Chemically it is ready to go, but the water is about 58 and total is around 50 outside with high winds and scattered showers. Hopefully my garden didn't blow away and there's not too much spanish moss in the pool from the oak trees. Bob
CAL Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Here we go again. it was 78 an hour ago and it's 63 now and falling fast. Expecting snow soon.
oldcars Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 The news tonight said we hit 80 today with a high somewhere in the 40's tomorrow with rain and or you know what. It was so windy this afternoon that someone in Kansas called to tell me that they had my newspaper.
