What's a good match for blue vinyl interior of the 1969 Nova SS?  I'm looking for rattle can or brush-on paints ---- no custom colour match stuff .

Thanks,  guys !

P. S. : Was the rubber mat black or interior colour. ( ergo,  no carpet ; the base rubber mat colour) .

My 1972 Nova 6cyl has a blue interior with a blue rubber mat, the 1969 would be the same. Not sure what paint would match, but it was close to a 1969 GM Lemans blue and was a fine metallic vinyl with matching blue cloth inserts.

Thank you , Mike ? !

I'm slowly building a 1969 SS-396 Nova ( L78 / L98 ) which is ostensibly based on the ( phantom)  COPO Nova . It's going to look rather plain ; polished plastic white body , with the plain wheels/  hub caps ; wider rear wheels with the AMT Blue Streak tyres ( maybe the M&H slicks instead ... Not sure yet .) Basically , a 'Connecting Highway Saturday Night Special" ?.

... polished plastic white body...

That's a cool concept that might or might not work out in practice. You might find that when you paint your headliner, the color shows through or at least just darkens that area noticeably. I had this happen with a RED body when I painted the headliner black. Now the roof was a slightly darker shade of red. I ended up painting the entire inner body black, which made the whole body the same darker color, more or less.

Another solution--one I'm going to try when I do a polished white plastic project of my own--is to lay a couple coats of a VERY opaque white paint on the inside before painting the headliner color. Dunno if that will work or not. I might also try doing the headliner area in white vinyl tape, and then painting the headliner color on the underside of the tape.

The headliner ! Man , that's right  ...

I like your idea of adding a white base coat for the headliner --- maybe even spraying the entire inside of the body with a light Grey primer would work , too .

I'm in love with the idea of a white Nova with base Super Sport interior in blue.

Thanks for your suggestions , Snake ?

the Tamiya light met. blue spray, then sprayed with their semi gloss will work, I have seen it on some builds thru the last few years and it looked pretty nice. the Testors  one coat   spray of Icey Blue is a bit lighter, but has large metallic flakes as you know, but, it also can be used with a shot of dullcoat after, then a hit of semi gloss spray, dried, then the following day lightly buffed with a small cloth ......by spraying both of the said dullcoat and semi gloss, then light buffing, that usually tones down the appearance of the large met. flecks.....either way should be close....the Ace....;)

Excellent suggestion,  Ace! Tamiya is my usual choice ( almost exclusively ) , so your advice is perfect ; I love their blue metallic ( it's a decent match for Chrysler's GB5 blue .

Thanks again !

As far as the blue goes, don't forget that for interior paints, you have a lot more leeway than for exterior colors. Go see what looks good to you in the Krylon, Rustoleum, and Walmart lines. And then go check out craft joints like Michaels, AC Moore and Hobby Lobby for their "crafts" paints, which are available in seemingly any and every color imaginable.
